A Few Years Later...

I didn't stop breathing.

In as much as writing is breathing to me, and then I stopped writing here on my website, I did not stop the flow of words and ideas. They just weren't here in Whatlightbulb.

Here's what happened: I survived Covid (see previous blog of 2020).

I also survived a divorce.

With my ex not being a money-maker for my household anymore, I added a side gig to my full-time job at Lowe's for 3 years while my youngest boy, who moved into our new place with me, went through his last two years of high school. He took a year off, processing the change in his family and in his life without school, and then joined the Lowe's employee list. Having a full-time job, he became a rent-payer, my costs went down by half, and I could quit my side gig.

With life being just me, not a family with three boys and a husband, I began thinking about how I wanted to construct my future. I wanted a better job, but everything I looked at said "Must have a Bachelor's Degree." So that would be my first goal.

I wanted a degree in Communication. That, however, could only be done by physically going to classes. I didn’t have time to do that with my full-time job, so my advisor said Arts and Letters was the next best thing. It could be done entirely online with no scheduled classes.

Three years later, I have just achieved that degree. I’m looking for a more fulfilling job than a Back End Clerk at Lowe’s, (that position started last year at this time), and realizing that I haven’t kept up on my social sites (which is now a job skill, not just a distraction). I also have to keep up my writing habits, like this website, to exhibit as an example of my writing style, skill, voice, and ability to convey ideas.

So, here goes another start to life. I intend to fully display who I am here. I will not be writing what is popular for today’s audience. I will be writing what I am about and how it relates to the world.
